Private Full Day Charter in St. Maarten / St. Martin

We’re Sail Renegades, a small owner-and-crew-run charter out of Cole Bay, and a full day aboard Freedom is the one way to see both halves of the only island on earth split between two countries — Dutch Sint Maarten to the south, French Saint-Martin to the north — the way they’re meant to be seen, from the rail of your own catamaran with nowhere you have to be. You get the whole island. Anchor for a swim where the water goes that pale, lit-from-below blue. Snorkel a reef most day-trippers never find. Swap the Dutch side’s buzz for a French beach you can only reach by boat. Your captain knows where the turtles graze and where the wind lays down flat, and he builds the route around whatever you’re hoping for. One boat, one group, one day that’s completely yours.

Two Sides, One Island — Where We Drop Anchor

St. Martin packs an absurd amount of coastline into 37 square miles. Here are the spots we love and what each one’s actually good for:

Charter Details

How it works: the base rate covers up to 4 guests. Beyond that you add a flat per-person rate — adults are 18+, youth are ages 7–17, and children 6 and under sail free.

  • 8:00 a.m. start: $2,395 base (covers up to 4 guests) — the early start buys you calmer morning water and first pick of the anchorages
  • 10:00 a.m. start: $2,195 base (covers up to 4 guests)
  • + $195 per additional adult (18+)
  • + $145 per additional youth (ages 7–17)
  • Children 6 and under sail free
  • Maximum capacity: 15 guests

A group of six adults on the 10:00 a.m. start: $2,195 base + 2 extra adults at $195 = $2,585 total, all-inclusive, for the whole boat — roughly the price of six seats on a crowded group tour, except the boat is yours.

Good to know: A 20% festive-season rate applies to bookings between Dec 20 and Jan 5. Crew gratuity is not included — always welcomed, never expected.

Timing: 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. start, back at the dock by 5:15 p.m.   Pick-up & drop-off: Port de Plaisance Yacht Club in Cole Bay, on the Dutch side — easy to reach from anywhere on the island.

A full day usually means crossing the invisible border at least once — the best of each side is worth the short sail. Most days open with a run up the French coast while the sea’s still glassy, then settle into a rhythm: swim, snorkel, eat, repeat. No clock, no rush.

Happy Bay is a favorite first stop — a soft crescent of sand you reach on foot through the bush or, much better, by dropping anchor right out front. From there it’s a short hop to Creole Rock off Grand Case, the best snorkeling on the French side. Sergeant majors swarm the shallows; the odd barracuda hangs in the blue. Want turtles? We point the bow at Tintamarre, the uninhabited island inside the French marine reserve, where greens and hawksbills graze the seagrass a few feet off the beach.

We usually time the back half of the day for Mullet Bay or Long Bay so you finish where the water’s calm and the light’s going gold. If your crew wants a taste of Grand Case — the island’s gastronomic capital, where the lolos grill lobster and ribs over open flame — just say so, and we’ll work the timing around it.

We tailor to your group and the day’s sea conditions:

  • Happy Bay, Creole Rock & Tintamarre Island (snorkel + turtles)
  • Mullet Bay, Long Bay & Pinel Island (beaches + calm water)
  • You see both countries in a day. Dutch energy and French calm, with the border crossing done from a deck chair.
  • A crew that actually knows the water. Where the turtles are, when the wind turns, which bay’s empty on a Tuesday.
  • A brand-new Lagoon 42. Teak decks, air-conditioned salon, Starlink, and bean bags on the trampoline.
  • Genuinely all-inclusive. Food, open bar, gear, fuel — priced up front, nothing extra aboard.

This charter stays around St. Maarten / St. Martin. If you’d rather cross to Anguilla for the day, that’s a separate route with customs handled for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included on a full day charter?

Everything but gratuity. Breakfast, a grilled lunch, afternoon tapas, and a premium open bar, plus snorkel gear in every size, a paddleboard, towels, reef-safe sunscreen, air conditioning, Starlink Wi-Fi, and fuel. You bring sunglasses and a swimsuit; we bring the rest.

Most full days include Creole Rock off Grand Case — the best snorkeling on the island — and, weather permitting, Tintamarre, where green and hawksbill turtles graze the seagrass a few feet off the beach. Both sit inside the French marine reserve, so we use the mooring zones and leave it exactly as we found it.

  • The base rate covers up to 4 guests. After that you add $195 per adult (18+) and $145 per youth (7–17); children 6 and under are free. The 8:00 a.m. start is $2,395 and the 10:00 a.m. start is $2,195, and the booking calendar totals it for your exact group.

Same length of day on the water, different feel. The 8:00 a.m. start ($2,395) gets you out while the sea is glassiest and the anchorages are empty — great for serious snorkelers. The 10:00 a.m. start ($2,195) is the relaxed option for slow mornings. Both finish by 5:15 p.m.
